Wireless Technology and Bluetooth

Friday, April 22, 2011
Bluetooth has completely revolutionized the wireless technology world. Bluetooth products allow you to connect to more than one device, wirelessly. They can also transfer data from a longer distance and range than an infrared device other wireless device.
This low-powered using device uses radio signals to communicate and transfer data. The current most efficient range for standard Bluetooth use is 10 meters (33 feet). They have developed a high powered Bluetooth device with communication abilities from over 100 meters. Electronic devices that may be used with Bluetooth are: laptops, mobile phones, digital cameras, audio equipment, and printers eliminating any cable work. Ericsson, IBM, Intel, Nokia, and Toshiba are the founders of Bluetooth technology. Where did the name Bluetooth come from? The frequency levels of a Bluetooth device are between 2.402 Ghz to 2.40 Ghz. This differs from any industrial, scientific or medical device (ISM). Although Bluetooth devices are quick and convenient users need to be aware of the possibilities of security threats. Bluetooth devices use and ad hoc network that allows connected devices to communicate with other devices directly, unlike other wireless devices that use a Wireless Access Point (WAP).
